Said Roger, “Diwali is the festival of lights and is an ancient Hindu festival celebrated in autumn every year. This year it will be happening towards the end of October. The festival signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair and extends over a five day period.
I know how important Diwali is to my Hindu constituents and it is also celebrated by my Sikh and Sri Lankan constituents. The festival is one of joy and hope for the future and I offer my very warmest congratulations to all of my constituents who will be celebrating it.”
